What is CLIP2GO?

CLIP2Go allows you to take about 90% of the information from CLIP desktop software and put it on a Windows Mobile device such as a phone or other handheld device. This information includes all customer, job, history and phones calls. It also has GPS tracking and directions and Route Sheets for the crews.

Do I need CLIP at my office too?

CLIP2Go works in conjunction with CLIPxe’s software that is installed on a normal computer. CLIPxe performs the bulk of all the information processing and billing.

How does CLIP2GO link up with CLIP?

The windows mobile device “talks” to CLIPxe through either a wired connection or through an internet connection provided through the windows mobile device. This would be either a cell phone data plan or a wireless “hot spot” at your office.

What device does CLIP2GO require?

Any Windows Mobile 5 or 6 or 7 device with a touch screen. This means the device has a stylus which you tap on the screen to navigate through the menus. YOU MUST HAVE A WM 5/6/7 DEVICE WITH A TOUCHSCREEN.

Can I buy the device from you?

No. if you decide to get a model that works as both your phone and mobile device you can purchase devices through your cell phone provider, otherwise you can purchase non phone versions through many stores. See our list of compatible devices.

How does CLIP2GO use GPS?

Since CLIP does not offer GPS software we have a written a link that works with Garmin XT mapping software. To use GarminXT you must have the Garmm XT software, a GPS receiver and a memory card to store all the maps on. We personally buy these items from http://www.amazon.com. (We have no affiliation with Amazon or Garmin, but merely provide this link to our customers)

Is there a monthly cost?

One license of CLIP2Go is included in the monthly fee for the CLIPxe software program. Additional licenses can be purchased that are billed monthly. Discounts are available based on the number of devices you are using.

Is this a yearly commitment?

No. You can choose to turn licenses on and off on a monthly bases. For example in the winter time you may suspend them.

Can I stop my crews from being able to change or see prices?

Yes. It has extensive password protection system that is located in the CLIPxe computer software.

Will a Palm or Blackberry work with CLIP2GO?

No. These are actually totally different operating systems. CLIP2Go is designed to work on Windows based devices.

How has CLIP2go saved you money?

If you are referring to “time is money” than yes. We were at the point in which we needed to hire a full time staff person or convert to a paperless system. We opted to with the c2g because it provided many benefits over our old routing software. GPS, electronic time clock, seamless job-costing etc.

How has CLIP2go increased your route efficiency?

We allow Mappoint to generate most efficient routes inside of clip, and the crews have all followed the routes without resistance. I have not verified fuel savings due to the increase in fuel this year (of course the fuel bill is out of control as compared with previous years) but I am confident the compacted routes are helping keep mileage at a minimum.

How was the transition and start up with CLIP2go?

Fairly easy, I bought all the items at one time, and slowly integrated them. I beta tested one unit myself for a few weeks before handing any PDAs out so any questions that arouse I could answer more effectively to the crews.

Is CLIP2go worth the investment?

Don’t tell them this, but I would pay more than they charge.

How many people have hand held devices?

One device per truck, stays in truck, wireless link to upload and download each morning/night.

How did the training take place?

I was rather familiar with info needed to operate the program, as I converted from QXpress. I watched some of the recorded webinars on the clip website, and the tech team always gets back to me via phone or email right away if I have a questions, comment. I have not taken any of the training classes as of yet, but they are available as well.

We are primarily a landscape management firm (mowing, lawn treatments, irrigation maintenance, landscape maintenance) outfit, the c2g with program and rounds has worked great. We can enter everything from chemical quantity to sprinkler heads used, as well as job times, payroll etc. and the crews are doing all the office work for us, they link back, we verify, we bill.
